Multi Cloud and Network-As-A-Service

Multi Cloud and Network-As-A-Service

Problem Statement

Designing a user experience (UX) solution for a multi-cloud and Network as a Service (NaaS) platform, focusing on streamlining the vendor enrollment process, enhancing monitoring capabilities, and optimizing the provisioning of the entire user journey. This encompasses aspects such as regional edge and cloud edge considerations, along with the seamless provisioning of load balancers, firewalls, network sites, security measures, policies, live alerts, dashboards, and topology diagrams. The challenge lies in creating an intuitive interface that seamlessly integrates with diverse cloud environments, ensuring efficient vendor onboarding, real-time monitoring, and smooth user journey provisioning within this complex technological landscape.

We conducted landscape analysis to uncover common Network Analyst and CIO/CTO tasks, goals, needs, and pain points. Here are some of the resources we relied on, along with internal business conversations, to understand and hone in on the proto-persona.

Chief “Innovation” Officers identify disruptive technologies for pilot projects. Investing 5% to 10% of the overall budget, this CIO persona must drive innovation on a shoestring. Typically from business backgrounds, these leaders move fast, fail fast, and move on. They tend to focus on the business side and external activities.

Responsibilities encompass collaborating with CIOs to identify and roadmap new business models, leading strategic units like enterprise architecture and innovation management, and overseeing decision-making for innovation-driven technology investments. Additionally, liaising with business functions to transform customer and market requirements into digital products and services.

Key Decisions & Trade-off

I focused on reducing complexity for enterprise users by unifying AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud experiences into a single, consistent flow. Native cloud-specific patterns were adjusted so users did not have to relearn the system for each provider. Advanced network and SASE options were available but kept behind progressive disclosure to avoid overwhelming users. AI-driven workflows were explored in parallel, but only introduced where trust and clarity could be maintained.

Impact & Results

Network setup time reduced by nearly 30 percent and cross-cloud management became easier for enterprise teams. Adoption improved across IT and operations users managing SD-WAN and SASE environments. Accessibility gaps were identified and addressed through audits, and early GenAI concepts helped stakeholders validate value before full investment.
